King Darius (duh-RYE-us) ruled over Babylon. He appointed Daniel and other people to help him govern as advisors. The other advisors were jealous of Daniel so they planned a way to get rid of him. These men knew that Daniel worshipped the God of Israel. They told King Darius to make a new law in which people could only worship and pray to King Darius.
