About

MARCUS: SON OF LUCIFER

The Chronicles of a Young Antichrist — Book One

Marcus Drago is twelve years old.

He has homework. He has friends. He has a mother who would very much like him to have a normal childhood.

His father is Lucifer.

You know.

The Devil. Satan. Old Scratch.

That Lucifer.

To the rest of the world, Marcus is simply Marcus Drago—a bright, occasionally troublesome twelve-year-old boy with a talent for asking questions adults would rather not answer.

To his family, he is Marcus Morningstar.

Prince of Light.

Crown Prince of Hell.

And, technically speaking, the Antichrist.

Fortunately, Marcus has absolutely no intention of destroying the world.

He has far more interesting things to do.

Unfortunately for Heaven, Hell, and occasionally the laws of reality, Marcus is also extremely intelligent, catastrophically curious, and in possession of enough supernatural power to turn an innocent question into an administrative emergency.

And summer vacation has just started.

Three days into it, Marcus is already dying of boredom.

For an ordinary twelve-year-old, this might mean video games.

For Marcus, it begins with an ancient book about some of history's worst people—and the strange things they were secretly afraid of.

Then Marcus discovers something interesting about cats.

Very interesting.

Soon, a harmless bit of historical curiosity becomes an idea.

The idea becomes an experiment.

The experiment requires the Ninth Circle of Hell.

And before anyone has successfully asked what Marcus is doing, several demon generals are dealing with thousands of cats, three enormous tigers, an increasingly complicated amount of paperwork, and one former dictator having an exceptionally bad day.

Marcus insists there is a point to all of this.

Annoyingly, there is.

Because beneath the jokes, the cats, the practical experiments, and Marcus's increasingly creative interpretation of what technically counts as cruel and unusual punishment, he is trying to answer a question far bigger than himself:

Can you punish monsters without becoming cruel yourself?

For most twelve-year-olds, that would be a philosophical question.

For the future ruler of Hell, it is practically job training.

And Marcus has another problem.

Everyone seems to know what he is supposed to become.

Prophecies have expectations.

Heaven has expectations.

Hell has expectations.

Even his family occasionally has expectations.

Marcus has yet to agree to any of them.

Because being born the Antichrist and becoming the Antichrist are, as far as Marcus is concerned, two completely different things.

And if destiny disagrees?

Destiny is welcome to file a complaint.

MARCUS: SON OF LUCIFER is the first book in The Chronicles of a Young Antichrist, a humorous supernatural fantasy series about family, friendship, Heaven, Hell, morality, free will, and what happens when Creation gives a kind, mischievous twelve-year-old almost unlimited cosmic power without first establishing adequate adult supervision.

There are angels.

There are demons.

There is Lucifer trying to be a father.

There is God being a grandfather.

There are historical monsters discovering that Hell has changed management philosophy.

And there are cats.

A lot of cats.

The cats, for the record, see absolutely no problem with any of this.
