The Long Nightmare: My Family's Journey With Dementia

The Long Nightmare: My Family’s Journey with Dementia is a  deeply  moving  and faith-filled  account  of  one family’s battle with a disease that keeps coming, touching generations.

   The book chronicles the disease in my grandmother, what was done to care for her, the heartbreak of those she loved and who loved her, and her eventual passing.
   The book then goes on to outline the occurrence of the disease in each of my family members: my mother and the early signs and events in her life and the heartbreak on receiving her diagnosis, and the journey of her care, and other relatives who followed: both my aunts, cousins, and ending with two of my siblings.
   The book also speaks of the life and emotions experienced by the caregivers in caring for their loved ones, showing that it is not only the patient who suffers but also those who must care for them. 
It concludes with a synopsis of what was learned about Dementia through the various experiences, and it offers suggestions based on those experiences, as well as information about services that are offered for the detection and care for Dementia, and groups that can be a source of resource and support.
   And then it ends with an encouragement that there is still hope and we must trust in the Lord with all our hearts.
